Starting Young

As long as I can remember cake's have always been made in the house. My mom took classes before I was born, making cakes for my dad's friends while he was in the Army. Kept up with it for friends and family she would make a cake for a friends birthday, an office party, birthday cakes and even wedding cakes here and there. So when I was little I was always by here side when she did so. I learned how to measure and follow recipes. My treat for helping was the hot cake tops fresh out of the oven that would be cut off to leave the cakes, still the only way I like cake to this day.
I also picked up the basics, filling icing bags, cracking eggs with no shells lots of little things. Never had to much success with frosting or pipping. I think that's why now I stick to fondant and gumpaste. I'm sure with some more practice I might get a little better with it. But thanks to my mom I have a sort of natural talent with design and decorating cakes.

A Little More about Me

I'm Elena Linda, 28 years old. Live in Visalia CA. Been decorating cakes now for about a year or so. Thought it was time to update my blog. Starting to expand my small business. Getting some help from our local Cake supply store. Still learn on every cake or creation that I make. Hope to have my own shop one day but until then I will be making cakes for friends, family and referrals. You can contact me on here or follow me on twitter or find me on facebook.

Products I Trust and Use:

Satin Ice Rolled Fondant for all my fondant and gumpaste needs I use Satin Ice brand. Always tasty and easy to use. I would recommend this product to any cake decorator.
Wilton has great tools that are affordable and long lasting. Also use their pans and baking accessories.
Sweets 'N' Things is the local cake supply store. Recently under new ownership. Very happy with the new little store where I can get all my odds and ends. Dianne is the nicest small business owner out there, so glad I get to chat with her when I go in.
